Bud Selig and the Players’ Union are trying to work out a way for the new playoff format to come to fruition a year ahead of schedule. The original time table of the new playoff format in Major League Baseball is the ’13 Season when the Houston Astros are moved from the NL Central to the AL West to form 6 5 team divisions in baseball. Furthermore this will extend the inter-league play in the 2013 season to accommodate the new unbalanced schedules.
Is moving this new playoff format for a one game wild-card battle into the 2012 season a good thing? I say no. Since the season ends on a Wednesday, the format would be rather squeezed into making it possible for the World Series to start as planned on October 24th of this year.
